Ce cofondateur d’Ethereum continue de vendre des millions $ d’ETH sur Kraken

Among the "founding fathers" of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain network, we find Vitalik Buterin, Joseph Lubin (CEO ConsenSys), and Charles Hoskinson (also founder of Cardano). But among the total of 8 visionaries who founded the platform for smart contracts and dApps (decentralized applications) stands Jeffrey Wilcke, who quickly took a step back from the project. He still holds a huge cache of ethers, and sold a good bit of that this past year on the Kraken exchange platform.

Jeffrey Wilcke sent 20,000 more ETH to Kraken

Thursday, November 28, 2024, Arkham Intelligence, a platform capable of tracking on-chain transactions, was able to identify unusual movement on Ethereum. It is because, besides the huge amount, this had been sent from one of the co-founders of the ETH network.

Indeed, Arkham identified a wallet on Ethereum that is attributed to software developer Jeffrey Wilcke, who is the main creator of the Geth Client. After initially sending 1 ETH to test, then 19,999 ETH were sent; in total, 20,000 ethers traded at over $72.5 million through these transactions.

Ethereum co-founder cashes in nearly $150 million with his ETH.

Tracking the transactions of the Jeffrey Wilcke wallet shows this is not his first massive transfer of ethers to Kraken. Indeed, the Ethereum co-founder sent 44,300 ETH to the crypto exchange in the year 2024.

If we add up the value of these ethers at the time of the transfers, we have a total worth of $148 million being passed from the private wallet to the exchange. That breaks down to an average price of $3,342 per ether.

It is worthy of noting that the digital wallet of Jeffrey Wilcke still holds approximately 106,006 ethers as of now. Wording it differently, that will come up to more than $377 million at the ETH rate while writing these lines. So the co-founder has not sold out yet nearly a third of the ethers he had at the beginning of the year.

However, Jeffrey Wilcke is used to this shredding of ethers on Kraken as last year he already transferred thousands of ethers. In that same November of 2024, it was an orthodox but sleeping Ethereum whale, who woke up from the slumber and transferred 73,356 ETH out of his wallet.
